Low-Calorie Holiday Desserts

The holidays are stressful enough, let’s not make it more complicated by over indulging in dessert. Put the joy back in eating with these low-calorie and tasty dessert recipes.

Pumpkin Cobbler Recipe

Peach cobbler


  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 can pumpkin
  • 2/3 cup light spread
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 can evaporated low fat milk
  • ½ cup artificial low calorie sweetener


  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees and spray your cooking sheet with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Mix all ingredients in a bowl, excluding the pecans, spread, and cake mix. Pour the mixture in to a pan.
  3. In a separate bowl mix the cake mix and spread with a fork and sprinkle cake batter over the mixture in the pan. Cover with the chopped pecans.
  4. Bake for around 50 minutes or until a fork inserted in the middle comes out clean. Let it cool for about a half hour. Add whipped cream or ice cream if desired.

Applesauce Apple Tart Recipe


  • 6 applesauce apples
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 baked shell
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 baking apples
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter


  1. Heat the oven to 400 degrees. Combine chopped applesauce apples with ¼ cup water, 2 tblsp. brown sugar, and nutmeg. Cook until the mixture is very soft.
  2. Peel and slice the apples, then coat the apples with remaining butter and brown sugar mixture.
  3. Spread applesauce mixture in a pan and place sliced apples on top, bake for about twenty minutes, or until apples are soft. Remove from the oven and cool slightly.
  4. Serve warm or cool. Top with vanilla ice cream if desired.
